Balmorhea was built on the foundation of love and family — the
things that matter most to the Carswell Family. For over 25 years, this property and its beauty have been thoughtfully preserved just for you. Even the architecture incorporates original pieces of wood from the old, historic homestead.
It all started when the owners struggled to find wedding venues in the Houston area
that offered both luxury and natural, rustic elements. Disappointed by the selection of barn wedding venues in Houston, the family knew they needed to get creative. What began as a sketch on a beverage napkin turned into the official blueprints for Balmorhea Events — their dream wedding venue.
Over the years, Balmorhea has grown with the addition of The Chapel, offering couples two beautiful ceremony sites. Other reception venues can’t hold a candle to our Ballroom with its vaulted ceilings, stone fireplace, and rustic, wood beams. Guests never tire of the views from around the property. The ponds, meadows, and magnificent oak trees have set the scene for new beginnings since 2014. Balmorhea is still owned and operated by the Carswell family. After all this time, they are still so grateful for the amazing team members and couples they’ve worked with and look forward to continuing to make memories at Balmorhea Events.
